What is vertical integration
Vertical integration is when two or more companies come together to make on individual product. For example the Battlefield series is a vertical integration because it is made and developed by EA and Dice. These are two very popular companies and together used both of the companies personal experience of creating a game to create of better overall product. However and disadvantage of this is that the profit made is cut in half due their being 2 companies instead of 1. Battlefield is available on most consoles.
Another example of vertical integration is Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. This Game is published and produced by Sega due to copyrights of Sonic and Nintendo due to copyrights of Mario.
Horizontal Integration
Unlike Vertical Integration where everything is shared Horizontal integration is the complete opposite. Horizontal integration is when the company owns everything about a specific product. An example of this is The famous Legend of Zelda Series. Legend of Zelda is produced Legend Of Zelda, published Legend Of Zelda and is played on the Nintendo Wii which is also produced by Nintendo. The advantages of this is that all the profits of the game go straight into the company instead of being shared off into other companies. However an disadvantage of this is that there could be a chance of less people actually playing the game since the only console the game is played on could be a console that some people may not own.
